Cats Playing Blackjack is a feline tribute to the Dogs Playing Poker series painted by Coolidge starting in 1894, with additional pieces created into the early 1900s. It makes sense to me that cats would prefer blackjack to pokerthey dont have the attention span for a longer game. This painting was actually commissioned by a "super fan from Seattle," and the original concept credit for the piece goes to them as well.
