The year 1692 saw Governor Simon van der Stel inscribe his name on the first title deed for the farm, making it one of the first farms to be established in Stellenbosch. Van der Stel awarded ownership to a German soldier, Arnoud Janz, which marked the beginning of a story that has unfolded for over 300 years. From the dark days of slavery to the recognition of award
